Aug 15, Colombo: Sri Lanka Army today opened a state-of-the-art High Altitude Training Centre atop the island's highest point, the Piduruthalagala mountain in Nuwara Eliya to train its athletes in long distance running.

Heavy winds damage over 300 houses in Sri Lanka's hill country

The Assistant Director of Disaster Management Center Pradeep Kodippili said that 318 houses in Ratnapura, Nuwara Eliya and Badulla districts have been partly damaged.
