Brian O'Neill was a great friend to youth conservation corps across the nation. He understood the power of engaging youth with their natural environment. He was one of the corps' greatest advocates locally and in Washington D.C. Brian was a voice for the youth we serve, including those most in need. He found ways to involve them in the park, develop their skills and hire them whenever possible. Brian was dedicated to preserving the wilderness aspects of our urban parklands while also broadening the opportunities for people to experience their beauty. We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend and advocate. His engaging laugh, big picture insight, and dynamic leadership will be sorely missed.

Sounded like a nice guy--sorry. I really
value the above statement,

"Brian was a voice for the youth we serve, including those most in need. He found ways to involve them in the park, develop their skills and hire them whenever possible. Brian was dedicated to preserving the wilderness aspects of our urban parklands while also broadening the opportunities for people to experience their beauty."

this is a very sad day for conservation in the bay area
he was a large presence in his smokey bear hat at any meeting
passionate about his job
yet a gentleman
he was involved in preserving so much of the beauty of marin and sf that we take for granted today

A true giant and gentleman who joins the ranks of Muir,Adams, Burton and Seiberling who has rewarded us and the plant with his total commitment to parks and people.

I had the privilege of knowing Brian through my job with one of the nonprofits in GGNRA. I was so impressed with his commitment to access for people of all backgrounds, his ability to bring together people with divergent viewpoints, and to do it all with warmth and a smile. My heart goes out to all his loved ones.
