North Carolina man dies in river accident in Tenn.

According to the Knoxville News Sentinel , the Clayton, North Carolina man and six other people were ejected from a raft when it overturned in a rapid on the river in Polk County on Saturday. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency says the man was unresponsive when he was recovered from the water farther down the river.

Man Killed While Rafting on Ocoee

A 50-year-old man is killed while rafting along the Ocoee River in Polk County. That's according to Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency Officers, who say the victim was from Clayton, North Carolina.

Cycle Oregon Day 6: Madras to Tygh Valley

The penultimate day of Cycle Oregon 2014 was a 90-mile route took us through verdant valleys, one of the best cycling roads in the state, a wild-west town, and a winding river gorge where we watched members of the Warm Springs tribe fish from wooden platforms. From Madras we headed northeast toward Antelope through some large-scale agricultural operations.

NY starts program to inspect rafting, tubing buses

The state Department of Transportation has begun a program to inspect buses that carry customers to whitewater rafting and tubing trips, following a fatal accident this summer. Glens Falls Post-Star reports that the agency had dozens of outfitters' buses brought to Gore Mountain Ski Center in North Creek one day last month for inspection.
