Alaska State Troopers say two Anchorage men were rescued a mile off the shore of Lake Louise on Sunday morning while a local resident there died as the result of a boating accident. Around 8:40 in the morning, troopers got a report that a locator beacon had been activated on the lake.

A Missouri state trooper fretted about his job and admitted he "probably did a bunch of things wrong" after a drunk man in his custody drowned during an arrest on a lake in May, a new recording shows.

Boaters, L.A. County brace for impact of Marina del Rey cleanup plan

A state decision last week puts boaters and the county on the hook for a multimillion-dollar cleanup of the Marina del Rey harbor, despite concerns that the financial demand and tight time frame could be impossible to meet. In a move aimed at addressing the pollution of the harbor water and sediment, the State Water Resources Control Board set allowable thresholds for seven toxic pollutants and required reductions to meet those thresholds for water quality standards called a Total Maximum Daily Load .
