Lena Sommers' painful youth led to life serving youths
Lena Sommers had what her daughter called "a laboring childhood." Born in Baton Rouge, Sommers endured violent relationships, ran away from an orphanage and was taken in by a woman she came to call "Mom Mary." Details of her youth were painful and came to her family in incomplete snippets. Comment?
