    Authorities are looking at going by air and water to get food into a North Carolina city that was cut off from road access by Florence's floodwaters. State Transportation Secretary Jim Trogdon said Sunday that one of his top priorities was determining how to restore ground access to the area.

    Authorities say a Kansas sheriff's deputy has been shot and killed while responding to a call about a suspicious person. The Wichita Eagle reports that Sedgwick County Sheriff Jeff Easter said Deputy Robert Kunze was shot Sunday about 20 miles west of downtown Wichita after arriving at the scene and seeing a person who matched the description of the suspicious individual.

    ICE agent in Oregon arrested on sodomy charges

    The Oregon State Police says that a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent has been arrested on multiple counts of sodomy, the Oregonian/oregonlive.com reported. Officials said a statement that Blake V. Northway, a 55-year-old who lives in Medford, was taken into custody Thursday after a joint investigation between the immigration agency and state police, the newspaper reported.
