    Eugene S. Cowen, 91, former vice president for government relations for the ABC television network, died May 15 at his home in Chevy Chase, Md. The cause was inclusion body myositis, a muscular disorder, said a daughter, Stephanie Orr.

    Mourners line up outside of Believer's Life Family Church in Gretna for the memorial service of slain Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office Detective David Michel Jr. outside of Believer's Life Family Church in unincorporated Gretna as relatives, friends, co-workers and others arrived to pay their final respects to Detective David Michel Jr. , the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's office deputy shot and killed in the line of duty last week. Law enforcement officers from local departments and representatives from as far away as Wilmington, Del., and San Diego, Calif., were also attending the services.
