Barrett was born on Feb. 28, 1933, in New York to May Damiano and Max Kowalsky, growing up in the Bronx and graduating from William Taft High School. She worked as a secretary in New York in the advertising business, and for Trendex, Norwalk Hospital, the Mid-Fairfield Child Guidance Center, and as a lunch lady and recess supervisor at Hillspoint Elementary School. There was a full house today at the Greens Farms Congregational Church for services for Kathryn "Katie" Dudley Chase of Westport, who died Aug. 9 at age 76. A lifelong community volunteer, she served as president of the Westport Historical Society, the Westport Young Woman's League, the Y's Women of Westport, and Staples High Schoool PTA as well as working with the Westport Schools Permanent Art Collection. Sister Ann Dudley recalled that "by age 12, Katie held a fundraiser in our back yard and raised $12 for the local hospital. Comment?

He lived in Westport and Queens, N.Y., before moving to Bridgeport, retiring from Bloomingdale's in New York City. He is survived by his wife Violeta; his children Carlos Moreno and wife Lauren of Monroe, Liz Moreno, Evelyn Moreno of New York City, Maritza Moreno of Melbourne, Fla., Tesireita R. Venegas of Waverly, N.Y., Dr. Celia M. Moreno Reed, Doris Thornton, Elaine Moreno, and Carlos M. Moreno Jr.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother and sister, Rafael Moreno and wife Sonia of Rincon and Milagros Moreno of New York City; and numerous nieces and nephews. Comment?
