Russell Raker, ACFRE, former AFP board member who led the development and implementation of the Advanced Certified Fund Raising Credential program, passed away on Dec. 21 at the age of 75. Raker was associate vice president for the Office of Institutional Advancement at Nevada State College. His career in fundraising, nonprofit capacity building and leadership in higher education, health care and social services spanned 53 years. Comment?

Born just a few years before the start of the Great Depression, William Herbert McNutt , who died Dec. 10 at 91, was raised with hard work and the down-to-earth values that defined so many of his generation. Rising as early as 3 a.m. in his Central Texas hometown of Coleman, McNutt, along with his brothers and father, would milk the family's cows and deliver the milk before going to school. Comment?

Charles Harrison Williams was about 12 when he entered the newspaper business, riding his bicycle to Dyess Air Field to deliver the Abilene Reporter-News . The printing skills he later learned in West Texas brought him to Dallas, where was a printer for the Dallas Times Herald and The Dallas Morning News . Comment?
