    Helen Wetzel, 98, Apple Creek

    She was born on Nov. 5, 1916, in Slovan, Pa., the daughter of the late Lawrence and Anna Znoy. In her earlier days, Helen worked in the steel mills of Weirton, W.Va., and was a welder at Federal Machine, where she built tanks during World War II.

Surrounded by members from the community, Jodi Weaver, the mother of 17 year-old Alyssa Wynn sat in a wheel chair and held tight to a photograph of her daughter, who she lovingly called "Alysa B." "We were jamming and we were singing and we were happy and she felt no pain.

    A former Warren man who is already in prison for child pornography charges has been sentenced again for another case. 56-year-old Lauren Thomas was sentenced to ten years in prison for illegally using a minor in nudity oriented material or performance and pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor.

    Although Valley motorists aren't paying as little as they did back in January, they are seeing a break from the recent spike in gasoline prices. According to the Triple A Daily Fuel Gauge Repor t, drivers in the Youngstown Warren area began the week paying an average of $2.21 a gallon for regular.

He was born July 12, 1933, in Mineral Ridge, the son of the late Fred Jay and Irene Ann Gardner, and married the love of his life, Veatrice D. Perry on June 27, 1953.
