    BROWN, Lewis K. Age 54, of Dayton, departed this life Wednesday, September 12, 2018. Lewis was born September 14, 1963 in Vicksburg, MS to the parents of Rosa and Henry Brown, and had been a resident of Dayton 52 years, where he grew up and attended Colonel White High School.

    Commissioner Pelicia Hall says Friday she is making the request in the interest of government transparency, though she believes most deaths were from natural causes, such as heart disease or cancer. The announcement came as the department website posted notice that a 15th inmate had died in state custody in August.

    15th inmate dies in Mississippi prison system in August

    Earl King Davis, 55, was pronounced dead at 12:52 p.m. on Aug. 30, 2018, at Promise Hospital in Vicksburg, according to a statement uploaded to the Mississippi Department of Corrections' website. Davis had been transferred to Promise Hospital of Vicksburg, where he spent more than a week, Pulliam said.

    William "Billy" Nelson passed away Aug. 18, 2018, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 63. He was born June 3, 1955, in Vicksburg, Miss., to William "Sarge" Nelson and Mary Ruth Smith. Billy was the Plant Manager for Pilgrims Pride and was a member of Tennison Memorial United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant.
