    William Arthur Swartzman, age 60 of Jupiter, FL and Palo Alto, CA, died suddenly on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Kaiser Medical Center, Vallejo, CA. Born in Trenton, NJ, the son of Anne Swartzman Ross and the late Joseph A. Swartzman, Bill was raised in New Canaan, attending St. Aloysius and New Canaan High School before earning his B.A. from Cornell University in 1977.

    Unity Tour serves as reminder of fallen officers for...

    Despite the aches and pains associated with participating in a four-day bike ride along the East Coast, officers who took part in the annual Police Unity Tour held in honor of fallen officers found the experience “fulfilling.” “There's all the preparation of training before going, in terms of riding, exercising, getting in shape for the ride. Then is difficult,” Vallejo Police Chief Andrew Bidou said.

    Slain Marin City man lived in Vallejo, Richmond

    The slaying of a 34-year-old man in Marin City over the weekend remained under investigation Monday as condolences poured in over social media. Jermaine Kennedy, a former Marin City resident who had more recently lived in Vallejo and Richmond, was gunned down at about 1 a.m. Sunday outside an apartment at 79 Cole Drive.

    Vigil on Wednesday to honor fallen Vallejo officers

    Retired Vallejo Police Captain Tony Pearsall can still recall the event that influenced his decision to become a police officer, nearly 49 years later. Pearsall, then 20, was working as an apprentice embalmer at Twin Chapels Mortuary when officers Calvin Thacker and William Easson were both killed during a traffic stop on April 7, 1966.

    Vallejo transitional housing to add one home

    Harvest House opened its first door for single women in 2008, and has now grown to three homes, founder Trenny McCollumn said. “Harvest House is here to help not only the homeless, but also help women from brokenness,” she added.
