TARZANA >> Sportscaster Mike Walden, who was also known for his role as the announcer on the 1987-91 Showtime comedy “Super Dave” has died at the age of 89, USC announced today. Walden was the television broadcaster for USC's football and men's basketball teams from 1966-72, when the John McKay-coached Trojans appeared in five Rose Bowl Games and won two national championships and the men's basketball team had a 24-2 record in the 1970-71 season, but missed the NCAA tournament because it failed to win the championship of the then-Pacific-8 Conference. Mike Walden, who was the first to become a football and basketball voice at USC and UCLA, then parlayed his broadcasting persona into a comedy straight man, died Sunday at age 89 of complications from a stroke, USC confirmed Thursday. Walden, a Springfield, Ill., native who lived in Tarzana, was inducted into the USC Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009 as well as the Southern California Sports Broadcasters Hall of Fame. Comment?

Los Angeles, Jan 27 - Actor Mike Connors, best known for playing detective Joe Mannix in 1960s and 1970s TV show Mannix, has passed away at the age of 91 in Tarzana, California. Connors died on Thursday, reports variety.com. Comment?
