    Funeral arrangements have been released for Frank Musella, a Sanitation enforcement sergeant who died suddenly at the age of 37 while he was on duty on Staten Island last week. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Most Precious Blood R.C. Church, at 70 Bay 47th Street in Brooklyn.

    Warnings about dangerous heat conditions were sent to city employees before a sanitation sergeant died while working on Staten Island Wednesday. "Clear messages were sent to employees in the city about conserving energy, about being careful on the street if there were any health challenges and about drinking lots of water," the mayor said at City Hall after a briefing on current heat conditions.

    Native Staten Islander Theodore P. Crupi III, 27, a refrigeration transport and warehouse company manager who was creative, talented and loved animals, died Saturday at his home in Tobyhanna Township, Pa. Toxicology studies are pending, but his son likely died of a drug overdose, his father said.

    Former Staten Islander George H. DeGrushe, 82, of Jackson Township, N.J., a retired U.S. Army career officer, IRS employee and steadfast family man, died Saturday in CentraState Medical Center, Freehold, N.J. Mr. DeGrushe had a 21-year career in the U.S. Army, beginning with his enlistment at age 18. He served in the Middle and Far East, all over Europe, and in Korea after the war. A paratrooper in the Airborne Division for 18 years, he then served as a Green Beret in the Special Forces and attained the rank of lieutenant colonel.

    Federal charges sought in Eric Garner's chokehold death

    The widow of Eric Garner and hundreds of protesters rallied outside a courthouse Saturday to call on federal prosecutors to indict the white police officer who put the black New York City man in a fatal chokehold a year ago. "You all keep me empowered to speak," Garner's widow, Esaw Garner, told the demonstrators at the federal courthouse in Brooklyn.
