    Norma McCorvey, who was responsible for the landmark decision that legalized abortion -- but later became an opponent of the procedure -- died Saturday at age 69. McCorvey, who died at an assisted living center in Katy, Texas, made many trips to Staten Island after she became Roman Catholic, according to Priests for Life.     A counter-terrorism investigator working for Brooklyn Federal prosecutors died suddenly this week, but was remembered as a beloved co-worker and a man determined to protect the public during his distinguished career. He was 59. Robert Losada, a decorated criminal investigator with decades of law enforcement experience on high-profile cases, died Monday of an apparent heart attack.

    Annual Matty White Alumni game a slam dunk

    Dozens of former College of Staten Island men's basketball players returned to CSI's Sports & Recreation Center on Saturday morning for the 7th Annual Men's Basketball Alumni Game, which celebrates the legacy and memory of late-assistant coach Matty White and his late-wife Delores. The game preceded CSI's doubleheader against CUNYAC-rival York College and is used as a fund and friend-raiser for the program with all proceeds supporting the program in the name of Matty White.

    Frank Murphy Jr., of Emerson Hill, a successful businessman and brother of the late Rep. John M. Murphy, has died. He graduated from the former La Salle Military Academy in Long Island, in 1942, and entered the Army, where he served with the 75th Infantry Division during World War II.
