    Attorney General says Mateen investigation moving fo...

    Although the killer is known, the investigation continues into what motivated and enabled Omar Mateen to carry out the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history. Attorney General Loretta Lynch said in interviews Sunday on several news shows that the FBI would release a partial printed transcript of the conversations between gunman Mateen from within the Pulse nightclub and Orlando police negotiators.

    Joe Schloss Way Unveiled in North Park

    "It means the world that Joe is continued to be remembered by everyone...and he would have loved it," Barbara Schloss, Joe's widow told NBC 7. Schloss coached for the North Park Little League and by the end of this career had reached legend status. When he passed away last November, naming the street after him was a no-brainer.

    Black, Latino activists call for unity during forum

    Black and Latino leaders stressed the need for their communities to band together to combat social injustices, at a forum last weekend in Barrio Logan. A panel discussion at the Saturday event, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, highlighted the deaths of two unarmed men of color who died during altercations with law enforcement.

    Jewell Hooper, 94, received the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Human Dignity Award from the county YMCA in 2014. - Earnie Grafton Jewell Hooper, a longtime community activist who two years ago was honored by the county YMCA as the recipient of its Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Human Dignity Award, died of natural causes last month at Scripps Mercy Hospital.
