    A Salt Lake City suburb's mayor says a Utah firefighter who died battling a California wildfire was from his city's fire department. Draper Mayor Troy Walker said Tuesday in a statement posted on the city's Facebook page that the firefighter's death was "tragic news" and that he was "a true hero."

    An inmate at the Salt Lake County jail died Saturday after what the sheriff's office described as an "altercation" with another prisoner. Daniel Lamont Davis, 38, later died at a hospital from his injuries, according to a news release from the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office, which oversees the jail.

    Harriet was born on Dec. 11, 1917, in the Town of Milford, the daughter of the late Edward and Adella Schultz. She began teaching for the Jefferson County school system at age 17, then during World War II was employed by the Federal Civil Service in Hope, Ark., and Salt Lake City, Utah, and later became a City of Lake Mills clerk and treasurer.
