Born in Burnet on June 1, 1946 to Dr. T.D. Tanksley, Jr. and Margaret Tanksley, Spencer spent his early childhood in Llano.

Dahlia Dandashi/For Round Rock Leader The victim of a fatal shooting at a Round Rock convenience store last week was a retired military veteran who loved his kids, neighbors said after the shooting. John Lawrence Ammon, 43, was shot and killed Feb. 8 in front of the Wag-A-Bag store at the intersection of Old Settlers Boulevard and Sunrise Road, police said.

    More than 100 people recently packed into the Round Rock City Council chamber and then flocked to the Mays Street overpass over the Union Pacific railroad tracks to help rededicate the bridge as the Immortal Bridge. The bridge now honors the memory of the 10 Baylor University basketball players who lost their lives in a train-bus collision when the site was just an intersection between street and tracks.
