    'Walk in another's shoes'

    Her book, "The City That Locked In," is based on a 2017 local initiative in which Rochester residents and visitors decorated padlocks with symbols and words of compassion and attached their creations to a community display in Rochester's Peace Plaza. Alessio, director of advancement for Catholic Charities of Southern Minnesota, says the capacity to "walk in another's shoes" is a preeminent power that resides in all of us.
