    Legislators hear bill to double abuse penalties

    The West Virginia Senate president this week introduced a bill that doubles the penalties for child abuse offenses in memory of a young Jackson County girl who died last year after being sexually assaulted.

    Fredrick "Fred" Wright

    In addition to his parents, his sister, Sandra K. Wright and brothers, Bill Wright and Hershel Watkins, preceded him in death. He is survived by his brother, Dorsey Wright of Ripley, WV; nieces, Megan Lacy and Ashley Wright of St. Albans; nephew, John Wright and great nephew, Davien Norman, of St. Albans, WV.

    Lewis Way Ressegger

    Lewis Way Ressegger, 87, of Ravenswood, W.Va., passed away on January 26, 2017, at Jackson General Hospital in Ripley, W.Va. Lewis was born in Worthington, W.Va., the second son of Dr. O.C. and Opal Ressegger on May 25, 1929.

    Pamela Jo Dawson

    She was born on March 31, 1972, in Ripley, W.Va., the daughter of David Dawson and the late Beverly Dawson. Pam was a 1991 graduate of Ravenswood High School and attended WVU at Parkersburg.
