    The Monument Avenue Commission formed by Mayor Levar Stoney nearly a year ago to "redefine the false narrative of the Confederate statues that line" Monument Avenue released their full report on Monday. In the 117-page report, the 10-member commission recommended removing the Jefferson Davis monument and repurposing the site for a new monument, pending the outcome of current litigation or changes in state law.

At 2:57 a.m. May 29, officers responded to the 2300 block of Bethel Street where they found Charles H. Pope Jr., 30, in a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound.

    The Richmond Police Department has identified two victims found shot to death after officers responded to the sound of gunfire on Lincoln Avenue this past Sunday. At about 11 p.m. Sunday, officers were in the area of the 600 block of Lincoln Avenue for an unrelated call when they heard gunfire, Richmond police said in a news release on Wednesday.

    Authorities have released the name of the 43-year-old man killed in a double shooting inside a home on Richmond's Southside late Wednesday night. James Mercante, a spokesperson for Richmond Police, said officers were called to a home in the 900 block of Belt Boulevard for the report of a person shot at 11:45 p.m. When officers arrived, they found Kenneth L. Brown, of the 900 block of Belt Boulevard, unresponsive and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

    Three men with the John B. Anderson Camp of the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War stand with their guns at their sides as they wait to honor the brothers with three volleys. A rose, a flag, a wreath of evergreen and a wreath of grapevine were laid on and at the foot of the headstone during the memorial ceremony.
