    A Life Remembered | Shockey got things done at DACC

    Just about everyone at Danville Area Community College - administrators, faculty, staff, trustees - were well aware of Dick Shockey's "tight pockets" during his time as the college's vice president of finance and administration. "We used to joke about Dick being tight, but when it came to giving to others, he was not afraid to give of himself, his time or his finances to help somebody else," said Gail Morrison, DACC's retired controller who worked in the finance department for 15 years with Mr. Shockey, 81, who died Saturday at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

    Defense points blame for toddlera s death elsewhere

    A defense attorney for a Wisconsin woman accused of killing her young stepson is attempting to pin blame for the child's death on the boy's father. Thirty-year-old Ellen Tran is on trial in Oneida County for first-degree reckless homicide.
