    Ray Jones Jr., beloved public servant, dies at 88

    Longtime Elizabeth City community leader and public servant Ray S. Jones Jr. died Thursday at Rex Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center near Raleigh. He was 88. Jones, a native of Raleigh, was a former teacher, basketball and track coach, executive director of the Elizabeth City Foundation, and was active in his church.
