    Memorial service honors 'hometown hero'

    PAULDING, Ohio A procession at least six miles long, rode into downtown Paulding, to honor Naval Petty Officer Randall Smith Saturday. He and four others died in the Chattanooga, Tennessee shooting last month at a military recruitment facility.

    Memorial service held for Randall Smith

    A six-mile procession of motorcycles along Paulding's Water Street past Paulding High School started the local memorial service Saturday for PO 2nd Class Randall Smith, who died two days after being wounded in a gunman's attack on a military recruiting office in Tennessee. Many of the bikers who then filed into the high school gymnasium to present a patriotic wreath were from the Paulding area, but some came from as far as Arizona to honor Petty Officer Smith.

    A few tributes honoring Randall Smith have been placed at the Paulding County Veterans' Memorial on the courthouse lawn in Paulding. A second slain serviceman from last Thursday morning's tragic shooting will be buried in Chattanooga, according to The Chattanoogan.com.
