    Because of an overwhelming response, CarolinaEast Medical Center will host a second showing of Hospice Foundation of America's "Living With Grief - The Longest Loss: Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia" program this month. After the successful, initial showing of the program, the health system along with partners, Cotten Funeral Home and Craven County Health Department Hospice, will present it again from 2 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 28. "Attendance at the initial showing was very successful and in response to many requests for a second showing," said Megan McGarvey, director of public relations for CarolinaEast.

    A dedication ceremony was held Tuesday in memory of a local police officer who died in the line of duty. A swing on Stewart Parkway, along the Washington Waterfront near the Chamber of Commerce building, was built in memory of New Bern Police Officer Alex Thalmann.
