    A new plaza at Mississippi State University's Davis Wade Stadium now commemorates the legacy of MSU's first African-American student-athletes, Frank Dowsing Jr. and Robert Bell. MSU officials held a dedication ceremony Thursday [Nov. 23] to dedicate Dowsing-Bell Plaza, located on the north side of Davis Wade Stadium.

    Mullen said he plans to be MSU's coach in 2018

    Minutes after Mississippi State football coach Dan Mullen missed a shot at his 70th win, he again had to address questions about his name being mentioned as a possibility at other schools. In the last month, Florida, Tennessee, and UCLA have fired head coaches.

    Chicago Bears great Joe Fortunato dies at 87

    NATCHEZ, Miss.- Joe Fortunato, the speedy linebacker who helped the Chicago Bears win the 1963 NFL title, has died. He was 87. "Joe Fortunato was not only a great player for the Chicago Bears, including being a part of our 1963 championship at Wrigley Field, he was a key figure in one of the greatest linebacker trios in Bears history alongside Hall of Famer Bill George and Larry Morris," Bears Chairman George H. McCaskey said in a statement Thursday.

    Joe Fortunato played linebacker for the Chicago Bears for 12 years and was a member of their 1963 NFL championship team. Joe Fortunato, a linebacker who played on a defense that included Pro Football Hall of Famers Doug Atkins and Bill George, was 87. He died at his home in Mississippi on Monday.
