    Snapped vessel line kills 1, injures 3 at Port of Lo...

    A longshoreman died and three other people were injured when a vessel line snapped at the Port of Longview early Thursday morning, according to the port and other authorities. Byron Jacobs, 34, of Longview received fatal blunt force injuries when he was struck by a vessel line that snapped in half as crews were moving a ship from one loading hatch to another, port officials said Thursday.

    Lynn is survived by her husband, Robert Duff; her mother, Gen Modeen of Rock Hill, S.C.; sons, Douglas Getman of Longview, Wash., and David Getman of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Victoria Hamel of Rock Hill, S.C.; one grandson, Lucas Getman of Longview, Wash.; one granddaughter, Jaiden Getman of Spokane, Wash; and three nephews. Born on Nov. 17, 1948, in Waterbury, Conn., to parents Carl and Genevieve Dzimidas Modeen, Lynn graduated from Waterbury Catholic High School in 1966, and worked in the Waterbury area for several years as a secretary.
