    A United States Marine whose remains were found more than 70 years after the World War II battle in which he was killed will return to Webster County today. Fort Dodge Mayor Matt Bemrich has asked that all flags in the city be lowered to half-staff to honor Pvt.

    Former ConAgra leader dies

    Mike Harper, who is credited with transforming ConAgra from a struggling grain company into a giant food conglomerate, has died in Omaha. John A. Gentleman Mortuaries said Monday that Harper died Saturday at the age of 88. His daughter Elizabeth Murphy told the Omaha World-Herald that friends had visited her father during his final weeks and that he died peacefully at home.

    Mamie Rallins, who competed in sprint hurdle events in the 1968 and 1972 Olympics and coached for nearly four decades, died Monday afternoon in an automobile accident near Fremont, Ohio. She was 74. Rallins was in the final miles of a return trip to her home in Port Clinton, Ohio, from Lincoln, Nebraska, where she attended last weekend's Big Ten track and field championships in support of the Ohio State University teams.
