    Lancaster shelter spreads love with free cat adoptions

    EAST LAMPETER TOWNSHIP, LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa -- The Humane League of Lancaster County held it's very first "Eye of The Tiger" free cat adoption day today. Fees were waived in memory of Event Sponsor, Leslie Fiorenza's late brother Mark C. Yerger, who is remembered for his love of his feline friends and animal rights.

    William R. Winter, 90, Ephrata

    He was born in East Cocalico Township to the late Ammon Christian and Marie Hershberger Winter, and was a lifelong resident of this area. Survivors include his daughter: Candy, wife of Darryl Weik; his stepdaughters: Vicki, wife of the late Charles Caul; and Terry, wife of Barry McCarty; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

    Deaths of Local Interest - Jan. 26, 2017

    Joyce E. Grossman , 65, of Lancaster, passed away at the Lancaster General Hospital on Jan. 20. She was a member of the Paradise Bible Fellowship. In the past Joyce had worked at Golden Living of Lancaster, formerly Duke Street Convalescent Home, as an aide for 44 years.

    Susan F. Turner, 89, of Ephrata, passed away peacefully Jan. 19, 2017, at Maple Farm Nursing Home, where she had been a resident for the past two years. Susan was married to the late Harvey Turner Jr. for 40 years before his passing in 1985.
