    A police dog in Michigan is slated to receive a bullet and stab preventive vest, the Kalamazoo Sheriff's Department announced Monday. The pup was sponsored by the Officer Collin Rose Memorial Foundation to receive the protective gear, which will be donated from a Massachusetts-based non-profit called " Vested Interest in K9s ."

    Charles Pickett Jr. sentenced to 40 years for Kalama...

    Charles Pickett Jr., 52, was sentenced by Kalamazoo County Circuit Court Judge Paul J. Bridenstine Monday, June 11, to 40 to 75 years in prison for the June 7, 2016 crash. Bridenstine sentenced Pickett to 35 to 55 years for each of five counts of murder, to be served concurrently, and 8 to 15 years for each count of operating while under the influence causing death.

    Kalamazoo's first black mayor, Gilbert Bradley, dies...

    Bradley, 77, died Friday, May 25 surrounded by family at Elkhart Memorial Hospital in Indiana. He served as Kalamazoo's vice mayor from 1969-71 before becoming the city's first black mayor from 1971-73 and later its assistant city manger.
