A service will conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Daniel F. O'Riley Funeral Home, 6107 U.S. 31 South in Indianapolis.

    Gary was born May 28, 1940, in Akron to Paul and Helen Whipple Sr. Soon after, the family moved to Ashland. He graduated from Ashland High School and Wooster Business School.

    A local man is dead and two people were airlifted after a single-engine plane crashed into the Boone Golf Course at about 1 p.m. April 25. The aircraft crashed moments after takeoff from the Boone airport, police said. The plane skimmed a line of trees at the course and then came down, landing near the fifth hole.

    A lawsuit filed by a Johnson City woman claiming another person was buried in her daughter's grave has been dismissed in court. Sherri Mayo sued West Lawn Cemetery and Valley Funeral home in March 2015 after she said she discovered disturbed earth over her daughter's grave and another person's headstone placed directly in front of her daughter's grave marker.
