    Family mourns Jersey City 8-year-old killed in hit-a...

    Dozens of family, friends and neighbors in a tight-knit neighborhood gathered outside of 50 Bostwick Ave. yesterday to remember an 8-year-old boy who died yesterday after he was struck Sunday in a hit and run. Jermaine Woodward Jr. was inside a bike lane looking to cross the street when a car struck him, sending him in the air, the boy's family said.

    Boy dies after Jersey City hit-and-run

    An 8-year-old boy struck in a hit-and-run Sunday night has died, and police are searching for the driver who hit him. The crash happened at around 8 p.m. Sunday on Bostwick Avenue in Jersey City.

    Elderly pedestrian who died after Hoboken collision ...

    Eighty-nine-year-old Agnes Acerra, a long-time Hoboken resident, died at Jersey City Medical Center this past Friday evening after sustaining head trauma and injuries to her lower extremities in a vehicle collision, Hoboken Police Chief Ken Ferrante confirmed Monday. Acerra was struck by a rental van while crossing Washington Street at Fifth Street on Friday morning.

    Authorities identify 89-year-old woman fatally struc...

    HOBOKEN -Authorities have identified Agnes Acerra as the 89-year-old who died on Friday after being struck by a van in Hoboken. Acerra was crossing Washington Street at Fifth Street on Friday morning when she was struck by a van, Hudson County Sheriff Frank Schillari said in a release on Monday.

    Bayonne woman accused of killing sister too unstable...

    A Bayonne woman charged with murdering her sister in 2013 remains too unstable and delusional for psychiatrists to determine if she is mentally competent to stand trial, a Hudson County judge was told yesterday morning. "She is pretty delusional right now," said attorney Inez Flores, who represented Demoiselle Belle-Bisous, 37, of Evergreen Street, at yesterday's pretrial hearing before Hudson County Superior Court Judge Joseph Isabella.

    Man fatally shot Sunday to be laid to rest today

    Funeral services have been set for Isaiah Jackson, 21, the father of two who was fatally shot on Sunday - one of six shooting victims in Jersey City that day. Relatives and friends of Jackson's will gather today at 10 a.m. at the True Vine Church, 129 Linden Ave., in Jersey City.

    Two people dead in at least four shootings in one da...

    Two people were dead and at least three people were injured in a bloody Sunday yesterday in Jersey City in which there were at least four separate shootings. Homicide detectives were on the scene last night on Orient Avenue off Martin Luther King Drive after a shooting reported at around 6:45 p.m. The victim was transported by car to the Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health, but died, according to scanner reports.

    Michael A. Digravina of Lyndhurst dies at age 84

    Mr. Digravina was loving brother of Dominick, Nicholas and his wife, Liz, and the late Joseph Digravina, and adored uncle of many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, great grand nieces and great grand nephews. Mr. Digravina worked for Marine Midland Bank in New York before retiring.

    Funeral for slain son of Jersey City fire chief today

    Family, friends and others will say their final goodbyes today to the slain son of the Jersey City fire chief, who was fatally shot last week. The funeral for Darcel Rivers, 35, of Providence, R.I., will be held at 10 a.m. at Metropolitan AME Zion Church, 140 Belmont Ave. Rivers, the son of Jersey City Fire Chief Darren Rivers, died in the early morning hours of June 4 after he was shot in the head on Fulton Avenue, authorities said.

    Hundreds mourn Jersey City fire chief's son at wake

    A steady stream of Jersey City cops and firefighters walked through the doors of the Watson funeral home yesterday afternoon to bid farewell to the son of Fire Chief Darren Rivers, gunned down June 4 after an early-morning robbery. The mourners, including city officials past and present, as well as firefighters and police officers from around the region, decried the "senseless" violence that claimed Darcel Rivers' life.

    JERSEY CITY -The proceeds of a fatal robbery in West New York amounted to $5 and groceries, which the attackers didn't even end up taking, authorities said. Authorities found $5.18 and groceries on the ground next to Moises Rivera after he was beaten on Thursday near 67th Street and Dewey Avenue in West New York, according to a criminal complaint.

    An eye-popping $13.2 million award granted by a Hudson County jury to the family of a woman who died after a three-month stay at a Jersey City nursing home has been reversed and a new trial ordered by a judge who says jurors did not receive proper instructions. Hudson County Superior Court Judge Nesle A. Rodriguez ruled on May 27 that "insufficient jury instructions" led jurors to improperly award double damages to the family of the woman, Mary Dwyer, who died Feb. 27, 2010, after being discharged from HarborView Healthcare Center.
