    News Jacksonville girl, 6, dies after dog attack

    A Jacksonville girl has died days after a dog attacked her at her Arlington home, according to the medical examiner. Jaelah Smith, 6, was critically injured Sunday when police said a dog the family was watching while the owner was on vacation attacked her.

    Woman pledges to repay cemetery

    A former salesman for Edgewood Memorial Park has promised to repay the North Little Rock cemetery up to $10,163 in restitution for selling fraudulent burial-service contracts to clients. The ultimate amount that Ashley Renee Pierce of Jacksonville is required to repay the 95-year-old Levy cemetery could be reduced, depending on the outcome of a related lawsuit in North Little Rock District Court.

    Mariana B. Harkins, 97

    Mariana B. Harkins, affectionately known as "Nini" to her family, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 1, 2018 at the age of 97. She was born on May 9, 1921 in San Juan, Puerto Rico to Albert D. Boardman and Marion W. Boardman. She lived in Puerto Rico until age nine, then moved to Miami, FL and later to Jacksonville, FL where she graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1939.
