    A 69-year-old man died Friday from injuries he sustained when a driver struck him in a Hilo intersection in May, Hawaii island police said today. Alexander Ortiz, of Hilo, died in the Queen's Medical Center of complications from multiple blunt force injuries, the Honolulu Medical Examiner's Office said.

    A 43-year-old moped rider who died Sunday after rear-ending a pickup in Kalihi was identified as Dennis Tungpalan, 43, of a Honolulu address. Tungpalan died at the scene after he crashed a moped into a Ford F-150 in the 1530 block of Hala Drive at about 8 a.m. Police said the driver of the truck, a 58-year-old Kalihi man, reversed his truck out of a driveway and left it in the road to close his gate.

    Motorcyclist killed in crash near airport

    A 32-year-old man died Saturday after crashing his motorcycle on an H-1 freeway offramp near Honolulu Airport and then falling off the ramp, police said. The man was driving a 2013 Harley-Davidson westbound on the H-1 when he crashed at the top of the ramp at about 4:50 a.m., police said.

    Memorial services for firefighter Clifford Rigsbee, who died from injuries he received during a rescue water craft training session off Diamond Head last week, will be held Saturday at the fire department's training center near the Honolulu Airport. The services will begin at 1 p.m. at the center located at 890 Valkenburg St. Rigsbee's ashes will be scattered near the Kaimana Beach Hotel at Waikki Beach at sunset.

    Clifford Rigsbee was on a sled pulled by a personal watercraft off Diamond Head last week when the watercraft operator noticed Rigsbee was unconscious in the ocean. He died two days later.
