    Former Central Dauphin East great and Marshall quarterback Michael Payton has died after a bout with cancer, according to multiple reports. He was 48. Payton won the 1992 Walter Payton Award, which is given to the best player in Division I-AA , after piloting the Thundering Herd to their first-ever I-AA national championship that season.

    Steerman, Wayne Ed

    Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Helen Steerman, Wayne Ed Steerman is survived by his sister, Kathy Shaffstall of St. Louis, MO, and his many friends who allowed Ed to stay in his home until his death, including the friendships he developed with the volunteers from Meals on Wheels. Ed was born in Harrisburg, PA, March 30, 1941, and the family later moved to Marion, Ohio.

    Indiana bishop cleared after sexual abuse investigation

    HARRISBURG, Pa.: A Pennsylvania prosecutor on Thursday cleared a Roman Catholic bishop who presides over an Indiana diocese of wrongdoing after questions arose about a relationship he had with a young man he counselled decades ago. Investigators found no evidence of wrongdoing by Bishop Kevin Rhoades of the Diocese of Fort Wayne and South Bend, who offered spiritual counselling as a parish priest in Pennsylvania to a young man identified only as J.T., who died in 1996.

    A former Pennsylvania Roman Catholic bishop who now serves in Indiana has denied an allegation of misconduct. The Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend told PennLive.com in a statement Thursday that former Harrisburg bishop Kevin Rhoades "adamantly denies" the accusation and that he "did nothing wrong."

    Mrs. Patricia Sue Keltz Bonaker, 96, of Amsterdam, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 28, 2018, surrounded by her family. Pat was the gentlest of souls and was completely devoted to the well-being of her children and extended family.
