Former Kent County Circuit Court Judge Robert Benson is being remembered for his commanding courtroom presence and sharp legal mind, which at times operated ahead of the will of higher courts. Benson died Tuesday, June 30, in Grand Rapids at the age of 85, according to his son Curt Benson, an attorney and Cooley Law School professor, who said that funeral arrangements are pending. Comment?

Two Grand Blanc Township girls and their father were killed in a crash while on vacation in Wyoming last Wednesday, June 24. Isabella Knotts, 6, and Lillian Knotts, 9, were traveling in a Toyota Highlander driven by their dad, David Knotts who is from Jenison, near Grand Rapids. Their vehicle hit a semi-truck that was stopped in traffic, and all three were pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Comment?
