    70 years later, 'Bronkema' house retains modern styl...

    Builder James Bronkema made a splash in West Michigan during the late 1940s by introducing a new style of modern houses patterned after the ranch houses being built in California. Almost 70 years later, this one of Bronkema's houses at 77 Lakeview Dr. SE retains the heated brick floors, walnut paneling and rough-sawn exposed rafters that made his creations stand apart from the traditional homes that were popular during the post-war housing boom.
