    Flags to fly half-staff in honor of fallen trooper

    A veteran state trooper arriving for work was killed Tuesday in a chain-reaction crash outside a trooper station in the Mohawk Valley, New York State Police officials. State Police Superintendent George P. Beach II said Trooper Jeremy VanNostrand's private vehicle was stopped in traffic waiting to turn into the station just outside the Montgomery County village of Fultonville around 7:45 a.m. when his vehicle was rear-ended by a box truck and pushed into oncoming traffic on state Route 5S.

    Anna Suits

    Mrs. Anna Suits, 89, of Montgomery Street, Fultonville, NY, died peacefully on November 20, 2018, surrounded by her family at St. Mary's Hospital. Born in Ephratah, New York on May 15, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Armetta Saltsman Bennett.

    Laura E. Hutton, 99, of Millers Corners Road , passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018. Laura was born and lived in the Hutton family farmhouse her entire life until moving to River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam in April 2015.

    James A. Papa

    Mr. James A. Papa, 83, of Fonda, N.Y., died peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018 following a brief illness. Born in Amsterdam, N.Y., on Dec. 12, 1934 he was the son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Papa Sr. A lifelong area resident, Jim was a 1954 graduate of Fonda- Fultonville Central School.

    Erin Regina (Vertucci) McGowan

    Erin Regina McGowan of Amsterdam, New York passed away tragically with her husband and good friends on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at the age of 34. Erin was born to Lynne M. Semprivivo on December 20, 1983 in Niskayuna, NY. She attended Amsterdam schools and later graduated from Fonda-Fultonville Central School in 2003.

    Allison A. King "Allie", 31, of Ballston Spa, N.Y., died suddenly in a tragic car accident on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, with her three sisters Abigail Jackson, Mary Dyson, and Amy Steenburg as well as her brothers-in-law Adam Jackson, Axel Steenburg, Robert Dyson, and several other friends. She was born on June 17, 1987, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., to Linda and Thomas King and was a graduate of the Greater Amsterdam School District, during high school Allie was a softball player for the Amsterdam Ally Cats.
