    Juan Reyes, Valley physician, dies at 67

    Dr. Juan Reyes, a member of the UCSF Fresno Medical Education Program for 27 years, died June 16. He was 67. Dr. Reyes was born in BogotA , Colombia. At age 10, his older sister Alicia was by his side when he was told he only had six months to live due to a health condition.

    CDC tests for plague in Northern Colorado after teen...

    The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is trying to determine how prevalent the plague is in northern Colorado after a 16-year-old boy died of the disease, which was possibly spread by fleas on his family's rural property. Taylor Gaes died June 8 after coming down with what he thought was a bad case of the flu, but tests confirmed it was a rare form of the plague.

    Pastor: "Make it count" as Stone Hill did

    Stone Hill's parents, Glenn and Tina, gave him his name so that he could be a source of strength and inspiration to others in his life, said Lanny Kilgore, pastor of New Covenant Community Church in Lower Chanceford Township. "Was that prophetic or what?" Kilgore asked the crowd of about 500 gathered at the church for Stone's funeral on Tuesday.

    Former Fresno County counsel passes away

    Former Fresno County Counsel Max Edward Robinson, a man described as a "splendid lawyer and a gentleman" and "an excellent legal research man," passed away Tuesday in Fresno. He was 82. Mr. Robinson was in hospice care for three weeks after being diagnosed with lung cancer and bone cancer last month, said his wife, Shirley Robinson.
