The idea was brought forward by the students in the 21st Century Community Learning Centers after School Program, who are heading up the drive to help the residents of the Flint water emergency.

    The family of a Flint woman who died after being taken into police custody has been awarded $25,000 after they filed a lawsuit that alleged denial of medical treatment for a seizure condition. A settlement document from the case of Joice Howard against Genesee County, including multiple sheriff's deputies, shows the amount and notes the decision was made with prejudice, which means further legal action cannot be taken by the family against the county.

    Former Thetford President, CEO Sargent Passes

    Former Thetford Corp. President and CEO Charles "Bud" Lee Sargent passed away on Dec. 28. The Bay Harbor, Mich., resident was 78. Sargent earned a bachelor's from GM Institute , an MBA from Harvard University , and an hon. doctorate in engineering from Kettering University .

    Genesee County settles lawsuit in death of jailed Fl...

    A settlement has been reached in a lawsuit brought by the family of a woman who died after she was taken to the Genesee County Jail. Neal Wilensky, attorney for the daughter of Joice Howard, confirmed a settlement has taken place with Genesee County and deputies from the Genesee County Sheriff's Office, but he did not provide further information about the agreement.

    Dale Richard Fairfax was born in Akron, the last son of three to Walter and Leah Fairfax, all of whom proceed him in death. Dale's family moved to Delphos, where Walter worked as a mechanical engineer on the railroad.

    42-year-old woman dies in car-pedestrian accident in...

    A 42-year-old Flint woman died after she was struck by a vehicle Saturday night on Lippincott Boulevard in Flint. The woman, who has not been identified by police, was headed westbound around 6 p.m. in the north curb lane on Lippincott Boulevard near Tebo Street when she was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by a 21-year-old Flint man.
