    Ford Hood identifies soldier who died while training

    Fort Hood officials on Wednesday identified a soldier who died Feb. 17, 2017 at the Army's National Training Center at Fort Irwin, Calif. Pvt. Michael Luis Garcia, 29, was killed from what military officials said were "injuries suffered during a vehicle training incident" at the army post near Barstow, Calif.

    Fayetteville police said officers responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Strickland Bridge Road and found that a car had slammed into a home near Applecross Avenue. The driver, 26-year-old Rakeem McGoogan, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where it was determined that he had been shot.
