John "Jack" O'Neil, who lived in Fair Lawn for most of his life, died Oct. 8 at age 88. "It is a great loss," said Nick Magarelli, who is a veteran and the liaison to the borough's Office of Veterans Affairs. Comment?

A Fair Lawn man pleaded not guilty on Friday to a manslaughter charge in connection with the alleged assault last month of a North Haledon man who later died from his injuries. Steven Duchack, 59, his thin frame draped in an orange Bergen County Jail jumpsuit and his wrists and ankles in shackles, appeared alongside his attorney, Robert Kalisch, before Judge James Guida in a brief afternoon hearing in Superior Court in Hackensack. Krystle Duffy went to the annual Out of the Darkness suicide prevention walk and fundraiser in Secaucus two weekends ago to honor her brother Tommy Duffy, 21, who died from suicide in March 2014. She came with a team of 16 family members and friends to donate to the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention, and they all wore "Team Tommy Jr." shirts. Comment?
