    Evelyn Parmer

    Evelyn LuLu Rose Parmer of Edinburgh entered eternal life at 2:30 a.m. July 19, 2016, at Simon Cancer Center, at the age of 85. She was born July 5, 1931, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Barg Westerfeld. She married Richard Ivan Parmer April 15, 1951.

    She is survived by her husband, Thomas Pat Evans; sons, Clarence William Evans of Edinburgh and Troy Evans of Columbus; daughter, Serena Faye Salomon of Edinburgh; brothers, Charles Streeval of Edinburgh, Timmy Streeval of Edinburgh, Jimmy Streeval of Edinburgh and Kevin of Taylorsville; sisters, Phyllis Chandler of Edinburgh, Sharon Fultz of Edinburgh, Pamela Streeval of Edinburgh and Deborah Sluder of Morristown, Tennessee; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Rev. Paul Burton will conduct a funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Assembly of God Church in Edinburgh.

    Cause of death for fleeing man still undetermined

    A ruling on the cause of death for an Edinburgh man who died after fleeing from Bartholomew County Sheriff's deputies by swimming across the Driftwood River is still pending after an autopsy. Bartholomew County Coroner Larry Fisher said he is waiting on toxicology results before issuing a statement on the cause of death for Robert A. Quick, 44, who was pronounced dead at Columbus Regional Hospital at about 9:22 p.m. Monday.

    Robert Gibson, Taylorsville

    He is survived by two daughters, LaVerne Whiteside of Coal City and Debora Lynn Gibson of Columbus; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jean Gibson; and two sons, John Gibson and Robert Lee Gibson.
