    Former Gillette resident Timothy G. Gulley, 70, died after a long struggle with lung and throat cancer Oct. 21, 2018. He was with his wife, Bonnie, and his brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Patty, at his home in Wildomar, California.

    Mary Jane Nelson

    Mary Jane Nelson, 81, of Spearfish, South Dakota, was born in Deadwood on March 4, 1937, and went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, at Rapid City Hospice in the Hills, a victim of liver disease. She graduated from Deadwood High School in 1955 and worked at Thorpe's Jewelry for more than 20 years in several different areas in the business.

    Mayor Chuck Turbiville's legacy lives on in Deadwood

    It is a city normally filled with good times and laughter, but Monday the streets of Deadwood echo the sounds of somberness. The dreariness follows the loss of the city's mayor, Chuck Turbiville, who died as a result of a stroke on Saturday October 20.
