    Death notice: Eldridge Moores

    A celebration of the life of Eldridge Morton Moores III, will begin at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 18, in Wright Hall, Main Theater, on the campus of UC Davis. The UC Davis Symphony concert, scheduled for 7 p.m. that evening at the Mondavi center, will be dedicated to the memory of him.

    Police, school district looking into swastika graffi...

    Davis police and school district administrators are looking into an incident involving spray-painted swastikas at a local junior high school. Lt. Paul Doroshov of the Davis police department said "On Monday, Oct. 29, at approximately 5:55 p.m., officers responded to Holmes Jr. High School for a vandalism report.

    Paula E. Gunther passed away at home, surrounded by her family, on July 15, following a short, intense struggle with advanced breast cancer. Penny was born in San Francisco in 1944.

    He was 43 years old and the beloved son of Linda and Brian Smith of Shelton, WA and Ted Bazarnik of Sacramento. He is also survived by brother Neal Bazarnik of Sacramento; half-brother Greg Adam was born in Santa Barbara County, on Feb. 12, 1975, graduated from Davis High School in 1993, and resided in Davis and Sacramento.

    Apply now for Biberstein grants

    Nonprofit organization can submit applications to the Biberstein Social Action Fund for grants in support of projects addressing poverty, discrimination, abuse and neglect issues in Yolo County. The fund was established in 2002 by the Board of Directors of Congregation Bet Haverim, Jewish Fellowship of Davis, to honor Ernie and Hannah Biberstein, who are among the founding members of the synagogue and who devoted much of their lives to community service and social justice.
