    As surprising Davis High trips the light fantastic thus far in 2018, one of the interesting variables surfacing - opponents have no idea which Blue Devil will make them most miserable.     I suppose it sounds ungrateful for me to say this, but when a water polo keeper gives me a goal, he should at least not be so obvious about it. Otherwise, it brings into question all the real goals, if any, I've ever gotten.

    Yolo CASA: Tonight, the magic happens

    If you are reading this on Sunday morning, then I'm excited to tell you that in a few hours, magic is going to happen for Yolo County CASA a For 21 years, we've hosted an annual dinner and auction, which has historically funded up to half of our annual budget. Yes, you read that right a half of our annual budget, which is why I used the word magic a few moments ago.

    Dan Walters: Would more money close our education gap?

    Unfortunately, nationwide academic tests tell us that California's 6 million K-12 school students rank near the bottom in achievement vis-A -vis those in other states. In the National Assessment of Academic Progress testing, for example, California's fourth-graders rank lower than those in 45 other states and in reading, lower than kids in 39 other states.

    She met the love of her life, Bill N. Davis, while he was training to be a naval aviator in Pensacola, Fla., in 1954. They Jacksonville, Fla.; Newport, R.I.; and Coronado, Calif., where she lived for two decades following Bill's death in 1966.
