    Owner of beloved Bay Area toy store chain dies at 93

    Emanuel "Manny" Luhn, the former owner Jeffrey's Toys, named for one of his sons, died in his home on Oct. 23. He was 93. Emanuel "Manny" Luhn, who owned a chain of Bay Area stores known to generations of children for the assortment of hard-to-find toys before the business was whittled down to one location, Jeffrey's Toys, has died. He was 93. Luhn died of heart failure Oct. 23 at his Danville home, said son Jeffrey Luhn, for whom the store was named.

    A man died Saturday in an officer-involved shooting near downtown Danville. Police received a call of a suspicious person near the corner of Cottage Lane and Laurel Drive in Danville shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday, police Chief Allan Shields said at a brief news conference late Saturday afternoon.
