    Floyd "Jack" Dodson, 77, of Shunk Road, Canajoharie, NY, passed away Thursday morning, October 18, 2018, at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, NY. Born in Nelliston, NY, on February 5, 1941, he was the son of the late Floyd H. and Margaret Benton Dodson.

    Harry Heilmann was posthumously inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1952, just six months after he died of lung cancer at the age of 56. More than 60 years later, the former Detroit Tigers great could have his plaque added to another wing of the Hall in Cooperstown, N.Y. Heilmann is one of eight candidates for the 2019 Ford C. Frick Award, presented annually by the Hall of Fame for excellence in broadcasting. Connie Desmond is best known for his work in the New York market, but he was a Toledo native who got his start calling the Mud Hens.

    Floyd "Jack" Dodson

    Floyd "Jack" Dodson, 77, of Blaine Road, Canajoharie, N.Y., passed away Thursday morning Oct. 18, 2018, at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, N.Y. Born in Nelliston, N.Y., on Feb. 5, 1941, he was the son of the late Floyd H. and Margaret Benton Dodson. Floyd received his education in the Fort Plain school system and retired as a heavy equipment operator from Dodson Construction in Canajoharie.

    Joint funeral set for sisters killed in New York lim...

    An upstate New York community stricken with grief after a limousine crash that killed 20 people is saying goodbye Saturday to four sisters and four family members who were on the ill-fated birthday celebration trip. The combined service is being held a week after the stretch limo loaded with 18 people ran a stop sign and crashed at the bottom of a long hill in nearby Schoharie.
