    The Chula Vista Police Department is investigating the in-custody death of a man who died at a hospital more than 12 hours after he was arrested. CVPD said Jason Watts, 29 of Spring Valley, died at UCSD Medical Center Saturday afternoon.

    The family of a Chula Vista man who died during a police chase on Otay Lakes Road two years ago planned a vigil on Saturday night to usher in the second anniversary of the crash, at the place where he died. Chula Vista police said Sanchez was driving erratically and the wrong way on Hunte Parkway that evening and when they tried to pull him over, he sped off.

    Less than a week from the one-year anniversary of the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history at the Route 91 Harvest Festival, a large group of survivors attended a Jason Aldean show to take back a concert memory that was stolen from them. The performance was Thursday in Chula Vista, Calif., a city that was on Aldean's 2017 tour schedule following the tragedy in Las Vegas.

    A man was died Thursday morning after authorities said he ran across Interstate 5 lanes in Chula Vista and was hit by a vehicle. The incident happened just before 4 a.m. on northbound I-5 near Palomar Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

    A large crowd gathered at a Chula Vista elementary school Monday to mourn the loss of a long-time teacher who died after being hospitalized last week. The Chula Vista Elementary School District confirmed that Mr. Leonardo "Lee" Sison of Joseph Casillas Elementary School passed away on Friday following a hospitalization for a serious health condition.
