A year ago Hyong U Yi's wife Catherine Zanga died after battling cancer. On Friday, Nov.20, 2015 Yi and their two children Anna, 10 and Alex, 7, handed out love notes in her honor to passersby on Tryon Street in Charlotte, N.C. If it were up to him, the grief would have kept Hyong Yi in bed for a year. Comment?

The Transgender Day of Remembrance commemoration will be held on Nov. 20, 6:30 p.m., at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center, 600 E. 4th St. At 7:45 p.m., organizers will read the names of those who died because of anti-transgender violence. Richard Hardy Maley Sr. was a physician during a time when being a general practitioner meant you cared for patients from birth - literally - to the grave.
