    Longoria's giving spirit honored by city

    The City of Burnet is mourning the loss of Park Supervisor Aurelio "Randy" Longoria Jr., who passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Aug. 4. A well-known figure in the community, Longoria is remembered by family, friends, and colleagues for the dedication he showed towards the City of Burnet and the individual members of his community. "Randy was amazing," said City Manager David Vaughn.

    Friends and colleagues describe themselves as "in shock" over the recent death of George Pangborn, who had been serving as president of the Highland Lakes Tea Party in Burnet County. "I was surprised, since I'd just seen him a few days prior in the court room, commending local firefighter efforts in the recent fires," said Burnet County Judge James Oakley, who had known Pangborn for 15 years.
