    Bridgeport Street Renamed For Girl Killed in January...

    Bridgeport officials and local firefighters gathered over the weekend to rededicate a city street in memory of a 3-year-old girl who was killed in a January fire at her home. At the corner of Bunnell Street and Stratford Avenue, a ceremony was held on Sunday to rename Bunnell Street "Sincere Pettway Lane" to honor the girl who died from smoke inhalation during the Jan. 3 blaze.

    A Bridgeport native, Shepherd graduated from Cornell University in 1944 with a B.S. in home economics, now the School of Human Ecology, where she specialized in nutrition. She went on to work in the Army Air Corps in a variety of jobs, including food organization analysis and often talked of painting numbers on airplanes.

    Playground To Memorialize Weston Woman Injured In Bo...

    A GoFundMe site has been launched to build a memorial playground in memory of a Weston woman who dedicated her life to helping others after being injured in the Boston Marathon bombings. Boston firefighter Jimmy Plourde created the site after learning Victoria McGrath, who he had carried to safety on April 15, 2013, had died in a Dubai car crash in March.

    Jesus Ramos, of Fairfield, husband of 63 years to Herminia Ballester Ramos, died Wednesday, April 27 at the Ludlowe Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Fairfield. He was 90. He was born and raised in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, to the late Antonio and Carmen Ramos.

    Paul Allen, founder of Logic Corp., a Middlebury, Conn., company that makes pressure controllers used in injection molding, died April 23 in Newtown. He was 85. Allen started his plastics career at Remington Rand's Electric Shaver Division in Bridgeport, Conn., working on the design and development of components, particularly plastic parts.
