    A bicyclist found dead on a Boulder path in October died due to a methamphetamine overdose, according to the Boulder County Coroner's Office. James Rockler, 66, was found just after midnight on Oct. 2 with a bicycle lying on a path just off of Kalmia Avenue west of 28th Street.

    Meth overdose

    Ellen Tate, known as a strong longtime contributor to the community on her own merits, as well as for the accomplishments of those in her family, died Thursday at the age of 86. Ellen Tate, a fixture of the Boulder community and wife of Boulder's first and only black mayor, Penfield Tate II, died Thursday at her home in Boulder. She was 86. Ellen Tate's son, Penfield Tate III, also served in the Colorado House of Representatives and the Colorado Senate in the 8th and 33rd districts respectively, representing parts of Denver surrounding and including Park Hill and has recently announced his intention to run for mayor of Denver in 2019.

    Gloria McVeigh: Remove AR-15s

    Sitting in a Boulder synagogue on Sunday, Oct. 28, my imagination went to a crazed gunman bursting in the door with an AR-15 semi-automatic, military-style rifle designed with one purpose - to mow down as many human beings as possible, as fatally as possible. That's exactly what had happened the day before during Shabbat services in a Pittsburgh synagogue.

    Rev. Dr. Donald Earl Modisher died on October 17, 2018 surrounded by his family at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN. He was 98. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Carolyn Modisher of Nashville, TN; a daughter, Christine Modisher of Nashville, TN; a son, Jim Modisher of Blackhawk, CO; a granddaughter, Heidi Steele of Golden, CO; a grandson, Dustin Modisher of Boulder, CO; and a great grandson, Gavin Steele of Golden, CO.Don was born on January 28, 1920 in Sharpsville, PA to parents James and Anna Modisher.
